Station Camp received double digit scoring from four members, including a team high twenty-three point night from freshmen Kia Perry, scored fifty-two points in the second half, posted seventy-three points overall and were beaten by twenty-five points by top-seeded Clarksville High School Monday night in the semi-final round of the Region 5 Tournament, 98-73.

After the defeat Lady Bison Head Coach Kendra Jackson said, “A lot of times when you score seventy-three points in a ballgame, you expect to win.  We had a hard time keeping up with Clarksville tonight.  They are by far the best team we have faced this year.”

The Lady Wildcats, with four sophomores as a part of their starting lineup,  began the contest with a 7-0 run over the pressing Station Camp Bison.  After the opening moments, Jackson was prompted to call a timeout.  The break in play worked to suture the wound created by the Wildcats.  Station Camp managed to cut the distance within the remaining time in the first period.  However, by the time the first period ended, the margin sat at nine points in favor of the Lady Wildcats, 26-17.

Though the Maroon and Gray cut the Wildcat lead to six in the second period, the Wildcats quickly answered by pushing the lead back to ten.  Shortly thereafter, the lead was nineteen.  Station Camp fought to cut the disadvantage back to sixteen at the break, 49-21.

At the intermission, Perry led the Bison with twelve points.  North was held scoreless in the second period to finish the first two quarters with eight points.  Chelsea Parker had six points. Heather Hughes finished the first half with two points.

Beginning the third period, the Lady Bison forced a turnover and North hit her first basket since the opening quarter.  The Wildcats would all but shut the door on the Bison throughout the remaining time in the third period.  By the time the third quarter ended, the Clarksville lead stood at twenty-four points, 77-53.

Clarksville extended their lead in the final period, and by the sounding of the final buzzer the lead had ballooned to twenty-five, 98-73.

Perry led the way for the Maroon and Gray with twenty-three points on the night.  North followed with nineteen.  Parker bucketed fifteen points, while Hughes rounded out the double digit scoring for the Bison with eleven.  Kensley Covington had three points in the second half and McKenzie Keele had two points.

The loss finished the Bison season with a 26-7 record.  Said Jackson, “We have had a very successful season.  After we moved up from AA to AAA, a lot of people questioned us being able to play with them.  I think that we did a good job this year.  We set a good standard for the future.”

The Station Camp Lady Bison graduate three seniors, Heather Hughes, Alicia Griffin and Chelsea Parker.
